Mission Statement

To promote effective and efficient early intervention services for youth.

Goals

To be a voice for youth and support youth service organizations and professionals by:

  • Promoting quality, community based early intervention programs for youth.
  • Providing on-going training programs, professional development, networking, collaboration, and educational products.
  • Advocating for increased resources for early intervention programs.
  • Increasing the public's awareness and educating the community on youth issues.
  • Strengthening the role of early intervention and diversion to ensure the continuum of care for youth on a statewide basis.

Values

  • We believe that early intervention programming is the most effective and least expensive way to make a difference in the lives of youth in high-risk situations.
  • We believe there needs to be an organized voice for youth in Minnesota.
  • We believe that youth will receive a better quality of care if youth service professionals are well trained.
  • We believe that youth will receive a better quality of care if youth serving organizations are professionally managed and have well trained staff.
  • We believe that providing a forum for youth service agencies and professionals to come together to share and collaborate will strengthen their effectiveness to serve youth and their families.
  • We believe in educating the public about the effectiveness of early intervention services for youth in order to support and promote access to these services.

Services & Advocasy

YIPA's services are focused in six areas:

  • Establishing networking and collaborations with youth service providers
  • Training of youth service professionals
  • Training and consultation in the development and implementation of community-based youth programming
  • Professional development (through participation and leadership in various committees and other association activities)
  • Advocating for community-based prevention, early intervention and diversionservices for youth (See About Youth Intervention Program)
  • Developing youth related educational materials for youth service professionals and the general public.
